Horse-riding in Trigrad Village

Trigrad Village will fascinate you with its hospitability and picturesque view. It is snuggled in the recesses of stately rock massifs, the starting point of many tourist tracks. The various archaeological findings in the vicinity of the village (cave dwellings and Thracian necropoleis) give evidence of the ancient origin of the village. The village combines modern and ancient features, Christian and Muslim traditions in a unique way. Next to the small church "Tsar Boris the Baptist" one can see the graceful minaret of a mosque. The road to Trigrad goes through the incredible Trigrad gorge and by the Devil's Throat Cave. The road creeps among the cliffs the sky being just a strip of light in the background. The cliffs stand like vertical walls, more than a hundred meters high, and their upper opening is no more than 20-30 meters. A legend of the area says that when Orpheus used to play his harp, the wind would stay still hidden among the branches of the trees, enchanted by his music; the birds would stop in mid-air and the animals - in mid-path and wild beasts would calm down. When Bacchante devoured the singer and threw him into the river, every drop of his blood turned into a beautiful mountain flower, called sylivrjak. The sylivrjak has been a rare relict endemite for the Balkans, possessing the unique characteristics of the ambrosia. While travelling in this area you can admire its gentle blossoms in the mountain meadows. In the cliffs of the Trigrad gorge one can find over 10 kinds of rare birds and groups of ornithologist have been coming lately to the village to observe them.
